Prevent your cellphone number from being used?

I think it's called phone spoofing or caller id theft, not sure the right term. But it's when someone is using your cell phone number to disguise themselves over a call. I think they have apps for this that you can download to your cellphone.

Anyway I can protect my number from being used by someone else? I don't want the fraud to harass others, frame me and then have them mistaken me for him.

I have BlackBerry 8320 Smartphone.
