(when using an amplifier for sub woofers)
is it better to ground the amp to the chassis(using a bolt) or back to the negative terminal on the battery itself?
does it make a difference?
I have always grounded the amp via a bolt in the trunk,(sand down paint under a bolt and secure the GND line that way)
has anyone grounded the amp back to the battery?
thanks guys.

Ground it to bald metal in the trunk or near the amp.
I'd keep it grounded, even when I wired up a friends fog lights I grounded it. Usually bringing it back to the battery is for car safety and knowing that it's got a full circuit of power through out the car.

I'm no expert installer, but I've done a few things in my past.

And best is to have the ground Closest to the gear. Usually the battery is QUITE far away. (when in comparisson to the trunk etc).

So your best bet is to keep doing it the way you have. It'll give you the best ground.

I think it's better to just ground the amp to bare metal in the truck it's to much work to run a whole new line from the battery to the amp.
