This can be tricky.
I have some ranch, and the expiration date is August 2009. However, this bottle of ranch has been open for almost 3 months. Is it still good?
Sometimes the expiration date means sealed OR open, it is good until that date. Other time, it expires in the distant future, but needs to be consumed within a short period of time after opening (for example, my soy milk expiration is months away, but on the side is printed "consume within 5-7 days of opening").
What's the word on ranch dressing? I want to have some carrots and ranch, but I'm not sure if it's good now that it's been open for roughly 3 months. Can I feel pretty safe about the stuff until August 2009? Or, is there some amount of time after opening it that I should consume it in?
All help appreciated. Thanks.
