Question About Knock Sensors, I Drive A 1999 Nissan Altima Gxe?

First off, just how many knock sensors does this car have, and where the heck is it, I tried looking all over and still can't find it. My SES light came on and said the knock sensor was the problem, I'm scared that if I don't change it out soon, that it might hurt my engine. Anyone who knows the answers to all this is much appreciated, thanks.
 
I cant answer where it (or them) is or are but there are several things to consider.
The warning light indicates an abnormal reading from the knock sensor, it does not mean that the knock sensor has failed (although it may well have). Knock sensors may give an abnormal reading for several reasons which can include.
1:Faulty or high resistance wiring in the sensor circuit.
2:Using fuel with an octane rating outside the range of fuels that the system was designed for.(Or the fuel is excessively old or contaminated.)
3: Dirty Air filter
4: Clogging injector nozzles
5: Heavy carbon build up in the combustion chamber (on the cylinder heads) causing detonation.
6: Motor running over hot also causing detonation.
7: And of course a faulty knock sensor.
8: The ECU itself may be faulty.
Does the light come back on after you clear the fault codes from the ecu? The ecu may continually show the code if not reset.

Simply replacing the sensor may not be the correct answer. (but it well could be!)
