I'm presently taking up a new system of karate that either has connections or origins with Chinese Kempo, it's called Chito Ryu Karate. After learning about this, I decided to look up Kempo and found that there are a lot of different Kempo associations. Some wear the classical white uniform, like in Chito Ryu, the style I'm taking, but others wear black uniforms, and have a lot more "animal" Kung Fu in their systems. Can someone explain this to me. Thanks!

Chito Ryu is not that much of a new style though it is one of the younger ones.

It was developed by a Doctor named Tsuyoshi Chitose and is an Okinawan system.

As far as the different kempo styles, this was answered here last week in detail. Do a search and you'll find it easily.

Edit:

Here is the question I mentioned. It explains the misconceptions and misunderstanding regarding the term "kempo/kenpo".
