1) Twice, 1974 in a 2-1 defeat to West Germany & 1978 in an extra time 3-1 defeat against Argentina. Both opponents were the host nations and the Dutch were without Johan Cruyff in the latter tournament.
2) Philipp Lahm of Germany in the 6th minute against Costa Rica. Germany eventually prevailed 4-2 in what was the highest-scoring opening match in World Cup history.
3) Pele of Brazil in 1958 World Cup quarter finals against Wales at the age of 17 years and 239 days. He would go on to become the youngest hattrick and final goalscorer in the same tournament against France & Sweden. All 3 records still remain intact after 52 years!
4) Oleg Salenko of Russia against Cameroon in 1994 World Cup group stages. He scored 5 goals with the final score at 6-1 for Russia. The match saw another 2 records broken by Roger Milla for oldest player & goalscorer. Ironically neither advanced to the second round.
Hope it helps
