R6 good for first sport bike?

First of all I have rode many bikes before. I Have had a yz-250 but started out of a 250cc chopper and currently don't have a bike. I was wanting to know if a Yamaha r6 would be a okay bike for a first sport bike. I raced my dirt bike so i can handle a bike pretty good.
