I didn`t realise i`d picked up blue ray discs & to be honest didn`t kno the difference anyway.
Should the cashier have checked that i knew they wer blue ray & will they exchange them?
Unfortunately, it isn't the cashier's job to check that you know it is blu-ray. However, I don't think that the store will have a problem with you switching it out for a DVD.
Hope I could help.
Normally they would warn you that you are getting a Blu-Ray disk, the video rental store should have them clearly marked somehow. But cashiers might tend to forget since the disks will run on gaming consoles that many people already have.
They will exchange it for a DVD for you, and quite possibly refund any cost difference. In my local store it is $2.00 more to rent a Blu-Ray version.
Well the cashiers job is primarily to take the 'cash'. Though i can suggest if you have a PS3 or something it will definetely work, but i know how expensive a blu-ray disk is so it would be worth just buying a blu-ray player you an buy them for around 200£.
