Sci-Fi Crime Novel Series help...?

I'm trying to find a sci-fi crime novel and all I know is the general synopsis. There is a planet that is controlled and run by a race of intelligent "mushroom people." The humans on the planet are servants and slaves. A murder occurs and a human cop is tasked with finding the killer.

I believe there are two books in this set so far.

Can anybody help with the name of the first or second novels?

I was just looking at this. I'm really sorry, but I cannot remember. However, if I do, I will give you the answer. I'll check Amazon. The name of the book is just on the tip of my tongue.

I just found it, I believe. is it "City of Saints and Madmen"?

There is also "Shriek:An Afterword" and "Finch". All three are by Jeff Vandermeer.
