Sci-fi special, Two sentinels (blue and yellow) searching for intelligent life?

I'm looking for the name of this sci-fi special, I saw it on t.v and rented the DVD from the library around 5 years ago, it was a discovery special or something. It's all computer generated, there's two sentinels sent out into space, a blue and yellow one, they both hover and are looking for intelligent life forms on other planets. the two of them are split up on impact and the story follows the blue one I believe, it finds a whole bunch of creatures like a two legged extremely fast being, these giant elephant-like creatures that are like walking mountains and near the end of the film, these hovering purple-grey things that in the end turns out to be somewhat intelligent as it passes this test done by the blue sentinel-it projects these holographic squares that light up like a game of Simon and it reacts like a person would to the game. Pleeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaase tell me the name of this special, it's driving me crazy i wanna see it again.
