I have a 15 year old daughter that will be flying alone over Christmas break. I am concerned about the new TSA requirements at the security checkpoints. My daughter has scoliosis that has been treated with surgery. She has a metal rod in her back that triggers the metal detectors at the security. In the past they have always screened her with the hand held wand.
Because she will set off the Metal detector and has some limited mobility in her shoulders that might disqualify her from the body scan I am worried that she will be required to undergo the enhanced pat down search.
I want to prepare her for this and was wondering what to expect. What are the guidelines for the pat down? Are children handled differently? What should she expect?
