Trevor Ariza as of Right Now? The guy is THE BEST defender in the NBA right now and he get a TON of REAL NON GAMBLE STRAIGHT UP TAKIN IT FROM YA steals. And he is the #1 hustle player in the NBA, always tipping or controlling in some way balls that look almost certain to go out of bounds.
I'll admit I don't watch all the other candidates, but still, I AM THAT CONFIDENT that he IS DPOY material, hell, he's TEXTBOOK DPOY.
Seriously MC, why would you say he's not DPOY Material? what is he lacking?
Oh, so now that Tim Duncan "just should" get one, even though he is less deserving than Ariza he shoudl get it?
And KG, I've watched him play enough this year and I can tell that his D is NOT on par with Ariza's, mainly because of Ariza's speed and hustle, Ariza is #1 hustle player in NBA no doubt.
Okay MC, you can't change your tune now, is it you don't think he deserves like you orginally were getting at, or you think he deserves it but don't think he'll get it?
you see, ya generally it does go to a starter, but if there are no starters that are more deserving then why should he not get it?
and the idea that the best defensive player is suppose to make his whole team better is garbage. The other players are exactly that, OTHER PLAYERS, it's an individual award and that's how it should be, Ariza shouldn't be responsible for the defense of others if he is to get the award, I'm not saying that's how it is or isn't , I'm just saying that's how it should be.

cuz at first it appears that you were condoning it.
okay Michael, Dwight has the numbers and I agree he is also deserving, but the hustle plays that don't get counted in the stat sheet when he saves loose balls that nobody else could get to and if they could they would have to travel or fall out of bounds. And also you have to consider that all of ariza's #'s are accumulated in 25 mins as opposed to Howards 36
