Should a girl have the same fitness regime as a boy if she's trying to

put on muscle weight? I am trying to build up muscle because I am training to prepare for getting my fitness instructors license this summer. I posted my fitness routine here:

and people suggested doing less reps at a higher weight.
so today i cut my reps in half and increased the weights by 10 lbs but it didnt feel like THAT much of a workout, like my muscles werent sore.

should i increase the reps and stay at that weight, or should i stay at 15 reps and see how much heavier i can lift? should i follow advice on fitness websites that is probably directed at guys cause theyre the ones who usually want to bulk up, or should i follow advice directed at girls, even though its probably focused more on toning than buidling?
ps i dont know if lowering my caloric intake so that i have less fat on muscles would be a very good idea because i am 5'8 and 117 lbs which is underweight
