The Dresden Files. One just came out this summer but they are really good if you like sci-fi creatres; vampires, werewolves, witches, fairies, etc and murder cases. They are really easy to get into.
If you haven't read "The Hunger Games" series yet, they are a must. Some of the most addictive books ever. I just finished rereading the series and I just cried my eyes out. No joke.
Some of my favorite are....
"The Hobbit" and "The Lord of The Rings" trilogy.
"The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant", but be prepared for a lot of very big collage type words not used in normal conversation. Good story though and there are 6 books in the series.
"Shogun", a really great story.
"Dungeons and Dragons" the first 9 books.
"The Dwarves"
"The Sword of Shanara" series.
