Swedes? Are people from Stockholm and Gothenburg (Sweden) friendly amongst outsiders?

Going to Sweden is my dream. I decided on going to college there and maybe even residing there. But people on the net keep talking about Swedes not being "open" to outsiders. I really need some more information regarding this. Any help or advice (preferably from someone who is Swedish) would be grateful.
