My friend has been baby sitting my daughter and her home was not baby proofed. My daughters leg got caught in the lap top cord and broke the DC-IN port to charge the laptop. I am trying to find the right part online for cheap... She said its a 400$ part and the computer tech said it cost more than the computer is worth. I think she is trying to scam the living shit out of me for her negligence. Where can I find this part for cheap? I want to buy it and give it to her so she can't say or try and screw me over.

I have trust issues.
V000933160 part number, i pulled the numbers off the computer myself when i was there, a marine who is intel "computers" said it was 400$ I know you can get parts cheap. I rather get the whole set up... found it for 10$ with rush shipping its still way less, and i can plug it in and that will be that. My husband and i built his laptop and i knew it wasn't right so thus why i wont give her cash i told her give me part number ill order online she said she will ask her friend for the part number and what not. so i am feeling like i'm about to get hussled. I am keeping the texts back and fourth from her and i so i have some proof if they pull something. I dont do people dirty, so this is why ill buy part and not give cash. and install myself. She is a nice girl doesnt say no... so if i order it, go over there with the little tools pull the laptop apart and plug it in and then search drivers if needed.
thanks for all the help, bought a part from up the road a bit and it will be here in a day or so.

well at first he is not really a friend if she is trying to screw you....you can get it in amazon just get the info on the charger cuz every laptop has diff charger even if the same brand or if you cant find it you can just get a converter,...

Is this more or less what you are trying to look for?

Geez, it's not even worth $2. Your friend must have included the shipping and labor costs. Besides, she shouldn't be blaming you nor your child for the damage.

I had the same problem, the thing is that the piece must be welded from the inside of the laptop.

My toshiba had the same problem when a pitbull knocked it off the table.

i took it to a laptop repair shop, and with order the piece and install it was 152 after tax.

the people you have talked to are full of bs. call another computer repair service.

wait i'm a little confused, do you mean on the actual charging cord? that peice is about 50 bucks, the part i'm talking to is the female part within the computer.

according to what i could find on the Toshiba laptop, it takes a 5.5mm x 2.5mm x 12.0mm power connector, with (+) on center conductor. radioshack should have them in stock for about $5. HOWEVER, the cost will be in the installation. Its quite a chore to open the laptop get to the motherboard and unsolder the broken socket and solder in a new socket, then put the whole thing back together. I know because I've done it before. you could find a competent tech to do it for less.
