Traveling from NY to NC. Want someplace fun to stop n take a break in between.

Any ideas? Have 2 children traveling with us that are 8&10. Anything fun that we could do for a few hours.
 
It depends where in NC you are going and where in NY you coming from. If you are downstate NY and you are going to the shore or outer banks, I would recommend stopping in either Fredericksburg or Williamsburg. I would lean towards Williamsburg. If you are going to the central part of NC, Fredericksburg.

Now if you are upstate and heading to the NC shore points, use the above recommendations. IF you are heading towards central NC, I would recommend Gettysburg or just about any place between Gettysburg and Charlottesville along the Shenandoah Mts.
