Some of the high points I got from GOOGLE-ing around.
a.) The person of interest currently being interviewed was variously identified by different sources as an Israeli, Egyptian, Coptic Christian and English (?) citizen. The evidence seems to be piling up that the guy is probably former Coptic Egyptian who still has ties to the Coptic community in Egypt. Apparently there are some hard feelings between the Copts and the Muslims in various communities and this was suppose to be a poke at them. The head of the Coptic Church in California extended an apology to some community avowing that the actions of the moron who did this did NOT reflect attitudes in the Coptic Community in general. It doesn't help that the goof in Florida that wanted to burn the Koran went public to say that he supports the way Mohammed was characterized and that this is a First Ammendment issue. Sheesh!
b.) There is another person-of-interest, an ex-Marine and conservative/right-wing Christian who does a lot of demonstrating along conservative lines, such as protesting outside abortion clinics and what-not. Among other things this guy seems to think that the Muslims deserve the sort of crappy treatment such as the film represents.
c.) AP talked to the actors in the film and they were completely blindsided by all of this. The movie reportedly was altered in post-production with language crudely dubbed over the dialogue. The actors report that during the actual production there was none of the insulting tone or language and they are now having to hide because they are suspected of being in on the whole mess.
Just some passing tidbits.......
Best Wishes,
Bruce
