US embassies attacked

didnt watch it. No sense in watching something thats just going to insult me again. Tell you what, you stop insulting me and i'll calm down just fine. Fair?

I'm going to bed shortly. Feel free to rip into me as you see fit while I'm not here.

I really don't see where this turned into a thread saying America sucks

Let's just change that to "Tell you what, you stop insulting ISLAM and i'll calm down just fine. Fair?"

Is it fair? Is that what people should do when faced with views they don't like?

The Bear.

What does islam have with calling me ignorant? Boy you do like to muddy things up. Are all scots like that? If so I may have to practice keeping notes or something so I can keep it all straight in my thick skull.

Ignoring your personal row with Bear, could you link me to the post where someone said America is a terrible country and you're terrible people please? I'm not trying to be an arse about it mate, I just honestly don't see it.

To illustrate that you are behaving in the same way as the people in the middle-east. If we were sitting in a bar in your home town and I was saying this to your face. How would you react?

The Bear.

If we were sitting face to face I have a feeling you wouldnt call me ignorant. You'd find more respectable words to convey your point and I'd be willing to listen to that. If we were sitting in a bar we'd probably be having a great conversation because I only drink with people that I count as friends... and we've hand that discussion already

I took offense to being called ignorant. I've mentioned that several times. If we were in person you'd have apologized by now to keep the peace and carry on the conversation. That hasn't happend, nor will it. I see that.

See, Americans dont needlessly offend one another just to make a point. We value relationships enough not to risk wreckingthem. We choose our words carefully out of respect for the man sitting across from us. We try to be understanding rather than argumentative, something I dont see to see here on MAP much lately.

Say what you want about us but we understand you dont have to offend someone to make a point.

I guess the problem for me is I dont act differently in real life than I do here. I try to be respectful to everyone and not take for granted you're not right here in the same room with me. If you'll notice, I apologize quickly if i'm wrong and work to make amends. I'd do that in person as well. I admit when I'm wrong, and am usually thankful for the patients to help me see that. I do the same here in real life.

What I DONT do is call someone stupid or ignorant. What I DONT to is try to ostricize someone by telling them they're symptomatic of the problem with their culture. To me, thats needlessly offensive and serves no purpose.

So you intimidate people to ensure you don't hear negative views. What would happen if I said exactly what I said here to you?

BTW. Ignorance isn't an insult. It means that you do not know something. In this example the history of WW2. I myself am ignorant on a great many subjects but once I discover that I try to do something about it.

The Bear.

LOL! Dude, give it a rest. Who said anything about intimidation? Really man. You're working pretty hard here to make something out of nothing. Please dont put words in my mouth? At least give me that? What I was trying to do was give you a compliment. I dont think you'd let yourself come off as this big of jackass in real life. I'd like to think you'd be more respectful than the way in which you're coming at me know. But maybe you scots dont HAVE manners?

I can't post what I would say to you in that happened in real life. ToS and all.

As far as your view of the term ingnorant being offensive or not, lets chalk it up to cultural differences and give me the RIGHT to know whats offensive in my own country and stop being so presumptuous?

The glasgow kiss is a headbutt. Take from that what you will

Admittedly calling someone ignorant tends to be used as an insult but its not what the word actually means.

Actually I am exactly like this in real life. This isn't an online persona. Actually I tone things down alot online. The number of things I would say in realtime to deconstruct your belief system would be far more painful.

The Bear.

Exactly my point all along. You could be called an American Extremist.

The Bear.

I think a couple of people in this thread need to take a step back and let their emotions calm down, otherwise the Mods may be forced to take action against them. Thank you for your co-operation with this matter.
