are your opinions? I know how EXTREMELY hard it is today to become a working actor in hollywood but what about back in the Marilyn-Monroe and Frank-Sinatra days of hollywood? because today you have to have loads of experience to even get an agent when Ava Gardener got an agent simply by being in a picture in her photographer-brother-in-law's studio (or so they say) Marilyn Monroe didnt have much experience besides acting classes either..Do you think these are just bs stories and it was just as hard back then to have an acting career or do you think the competition has gotten extremely harder nowadays? What are your thoughts/opinions...

No. The only time I think it might have been "easier" is when the Hollywood business first started. When you first start anything, you are desperate to find the right people to make the business work. But even in the 1920s after Hollywood first got itself going, once they got the jist of making movies then it got competitive.

No it wasn't easy for Marilyn Monroe and Frank Sinatra, you gotta realize that before they came to the business, Hollywood was already a well oiled machine, so they had to compete just like anyone else.

i dont know its hard to say. there are many talented actors that dont make it hollywood, but they are still actors because they do what they love. But then there a lot of people who are not talented and make it hollywood. For instance Larry the Cable Guy. Remember that there was less pay for those actors and they did it for the love and passion, but nowadays it seems that all people care about is fame or fortune which is the wrong reason to get into acting. I dont consider the term competition as I pursue my dreams of acting. An actor should not be out to compete with his follow actors but should be inspired by them for something that may come their way in the future.
