4 cylinder engines do not rumble at all no mater what you do to them. the more you mod them the higher the exhaust pitch gets. Their aren't any cheap mods that will make any type of difference in the way if sounds or performence. If I was you I would just get a nice chambered muffler and stick with the stock exhuast size because if you do bigger than it will make the car sound raspy this is because the engine can't really make any back pressure and as a result you will loose power but if you just put a good chambered muffler ( not a coffee can) you will get a decent sound but it won't be deep. Like the first answer said if you want a deep tone than you are going to have to get another platform to mod because a four cylinder will never have a deep sound to it. The smallest enignes that will have a deep sound would be a Push Rod (OHV) V6 like the older GM engines they have a nice deep ton to them and they also have a nice rumble at idle. the 3800 series 1,2 and 3 V6 all have a great sound to them and they are fast. The 3300 V6 also has a nice sound to it and the older GM 2.8L and 3.1L V6 enignes also have a nice deep tone to them I know because I drive a 1993 Pontiac Grand Prix with the 3.1L. so sorry but if you want a deep sound you need to get a different car. And just so you know if your thinking of getting a import car with a bigger enigne than you are going to be out of luck because all import V6 engines are Double Over Head Cam (DOHC)like your car is so this means that you will get more power but this type of valve train makes the exhaust note sound high pitched and raspy.

Nothing cheap.

$1500 will get you just an intake, headers, and exhaust.

Your car will not be noticeably faster.

If you go to a 1/4 mile track, it will not be noticeably faster.

And it may SLIGHTLY decrease your acceleration. And those are about the cheapest legit mods you can do.

Sure, you can get the same setup on ebay for $500. And it will do absolutely zero for your car.

And sorry to break it to you, but your car doesn't put out the volume of exhaust needed to make it have a deep rumble.

That's bass. Your car, being a small 4 cylinder, has treble.

Swap to a much larger displacement engine, and you'll get the rumble you want.

put a glass pack exhaust system in it, shouldn't cost more than $150 then for acceleration u can put the usual like air intake better spark plug wires and spark plugs, even headers all that together would cost u no less than $300 and no more than $400 and your car would be faster but not that much faster u probably would notice a difference. U could go turbo then that would make a huge difference even a small turbo like a 16 or 20 milimeter. but that would run u about 4-5 hundred if u install it, if u pay some one about $900-$1000
