What are the major difference in a cruiser and a sports bike?

other than sitting position. I want to get a kawasaki ninja as my starter bike , but i know the training courser only user cruisers.

Like 6 speed and automatic whats the difference what comes with a ninja 250 sr?

That means i have to use the foot pedal to change the gears right? And automatic mean i just turn the knob? Wouldnt 6 speed very uncomfortable?

Detailed answers are much appreciated. I am very clueless thank guys!
 
well a cruiser bike is for the long trip (site seeing) and the sports bike is where you really get down with the fellas racing or showing off at a bike show. Well you are kinda right...The six speed is not bad at all....but I would chose the Ninja. I love sports bike.
 
Sorry just a short answer. A $4k 250 ninja is faster, and a much more agile bike than a $7K 883 Harley sportster. The Ninja is also a much better beginner bike since it is lighter.

Sport bikes and cruisers are two ends of the spectrum.

All cruisers are pretty lousy bikes as far as performance. They are built to look a certain way like choppers, and performance isn't their purpose. Bigger sport bikes are all about speed and agility, they are street legal racing bikes. Not very good every day bikes, the riding position is uncomfortable after a time, they are way faster than anyone off a track will ever need. The bikes to buy are the ones in the middle, this is the area where bikes have performance and some comfort and usefulness.

Only scooters have 'auto transmission', pretty much everything else you shift.
 
cruiser- you can go long distance they are heavier and more comfy eqiped with luxuery

spoertsbike- fast fun and make cool turns they are not comfy but more fun and sound nice they get a lt of heads turned at you.

Cruisers are built for comfort and Sport Bikes are built for power/speed. In the last ten years however there has been a lot of innovation with the emergence of Power Cruisers/Muscle Cruisers such as the Suzuki M109R or Harley V-Rod which are both extremely fast Cruiser style bikes that offer both comfort and power. There have also been Sport Bikes that have trended toward comfort in the past and present such as the Suzuki GSX1250FA or Triumph Tiger SE; These bikes offer handle bars that allow the rider to sit in a more upright position that is much more comfortable for extended riding periods.
