What can I say to a doctor to get a pain pill prescription?

I've been having very strong menstral cramps when I get my periods. The doctor precribed me a drug called Altram for thr cramps, but just a one time prescription. It didn't help at all. I don't always get bad cramps, but maybe one day out of the 5 days I have my period its painful enough to need to take something.
Those pills didn't help much at all. A friend of mine gave me one of her percocet to take, and that really helped.
How can I explain to my doctor that I need something stronger to have to take when the cramps get extreme?? I won't abuse the drugs, but I need something stronger to take like once a month.
What should I say? I hate asking for any pain medicine because I'm always afraid the doctor will think I'm a drug addict. But the cramps are so bad that the ibeprophen and the altrum didn't help at all. How do I ask a doctor for something stronger to help??

Simply put: Tell the doctor your exact problem, he's a proffesional so he should be able to tell whether you need pills or not.Prescription drugs are like that for a reason.
