chaperone when going on a date? I met a girl who I really like a lot. We're both pre-Vatican II traditional Catholics. We're both adults. I'm 30 and she's 21. Now that we're a couple together, her parents don't want me and her to be alone together.

Whenever me and her go out, her parents want a chaperone to be with us. Also, her parents want her home before 9pm. She said her parents talked to their traditional parish priest, and the opinion that their priest gave about dating is that a woman should be out no later than 9pm, so her parents want her home at 9pm at all times. She said that her parents say this is not an issue of trust, but rather it's an issue of doing the things the right way. Her parents really like me and think I'm a great guy, but though they want to do things the traditional way.

I really like this girl a lot and I'm also very traditional in my Catholic faith as well ... but this is really extreme to me. We're both adults. This is really bothering me. I'm not sure if I want to be a part of this type of family ... but though I don't want to be the one who wants to make her rebel against her parents.

I don't know what to do and I'm really confused. What am I to make out of all of this???
