...on it that i can see? the neighbor is selling a dirt bike that they bought 2 years ago from china i guess or its a foregin bike any way name "chalee" . They never registered it and therfore dont have a title. what do i need to do? Please help/...
Are you planning on driving it on the street. Not all dirt bikes are street legal, the requirement to be legal is probably a head light, break light, and possibly turn signals depending on your state. I also wouldn't recommend buying that dirt bike unless it's really cheap. It sounds like a cheap chinses model they sell at pepboys or something like that. I doubt its street legal so as long as you don't plan on driving it on the road you wont need to register it and if you don't need to register it it doesn't need to have a vin or title. One more thing, you can add lights and stuff to make it street legal but its a hassle trying to get a special aftermarket or salvage title for a project like this.
Do not buy it if it is Chinese made. They are total crap. Buy a Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, KTM, or Husqvarna. They will last long and be more fun.
My opinion? If you plan on registering it, ask your local registration office the same question as you asked YA. They are the only true source for the information that you seek if you plan on registering it after you buy it.
