What is a good bike (motorcycle) to start off with?

ok so i know everything i need to know about cars, but i don't have the slightest clue about anything that has to do with a motorcycle. i have always wanted one but quiet honestly i am too scared to get on a bike without the proper training first. i want to take the motorcycle safety courses but i still need to save up the money for everything. i know it is best to start off with a cruiser bike but the only reason i want one is that sports bikes interest me. i really like the cbr600 and the ninja but a buddy of mine told me that it isn't the best "first bike". what do you recommend i start with anything helps
