What is a good crossover suv first car?

i'm 16 and I am looking at cars with my dad. My mom wants me to have a safer car than a little car. I like the looks of a 2010 chevy Equinox and a 2010 Honda pilot. of course I can't have a new car cuz I'll "wreck it" and I'll be the one paying for it. lol, my parents are so paranoid about me totaling and flipping a car. 2008 seems like an okay year for me. I don't need a GPS cuz I have an iPhone, and that has one. Any suggestions for a first car? Thanks.
 
Toyota will last you to about 230,000 miles, which is a lot! I like the new Toyota Highlander!
 
Safest, Best performance, incredibly comfortable, interior better then most american limos, not bad looking and decent value buying used...R class Mercedes Benz. Don't know how much you can put out but for about $24,000 you can get a 2006-2007 R350.
 
well if it has to be a crossover i would pick the subaru outback if not i would get the subaru legacy. both have some of the highest saftey rating in the industy an i know from personal experience
