What is a good DVD/book to get a beginning male adult bass player that shows

the very basics? I'm getting my boyfriend a bass guitar for Christmas. He has never played a string instrument in his life. I'm looking for either a DVD or a book that shows the very basics of how to play a 4 string bass guitar. Basically to show how to hold it, press the strings, strum, maintenance, tuning, how to either read music or read tabs (preferably tabs because that is what I am getting him), things like that. I would definitely prefer a DVD if at all possible because my boyfriend is not a big fan of reading thanks to all the forced reading he went through in college. He is 25 years old if that helps, so the material should not be geared towards a child.
