I just recently got my drivers license and I've always wanted to get a street bike... but the only bike I've ever been on was my friends dirt bike when i was like 8. I love the Ninja bikes especially the ZX 14 but i know that's way too advanced for a beginner like myself. So what would be a good starter bike for someone like me?

Don't even think about the ZX-14 until you've been riding for 15-20 years. But it's a good thing you like ninjas, so you can go ahead a get a Ninja 250R, learn to ride, but ultimately get bored with it, sell it in six months. Buy a ZX-6R, then realize that Kawasaki's aren't all that great, and then you can buy a Gixxer or CBR.

if you haven't taken the motorcycle safety course you should take that. My first bike was a 500cc gs500 and it is easy to handle i rode my friends 250 ninja and its a pretty quick bike for 250cc it kept up with my gs500. I ride a sv650s now and i love it. If you do feel comfortable enough on a motorcycle i would suggest this bike, its decently cheap and reliable. the only down side to the sv650 is if your short like under 5'8" you might not be able to put both feet on the floor. But when you ride remember to wear your gear.

If you like the Ninja's try opting for the Ninja 250. It's a great starter bike. And you can opt for performance parts for too. It's getting nothing but great reviews.

Also Suzuki SV650 is a great choice. Honda 599, Buell Blast

Just to name a few.

Good luck.
