What is bluetooth and why are people so hyped up about it?

It seems that everything I own has bluetooth. I thought bluetooth were headset for your phone but apparently my Blu-Ray player and iPod Touch have bluetooth on it!?!? 0_0

Can somebody please explain bluetooth to me?

Did I say my Blu-Ray player had bluetooth? Never mind it's Wi-Fi. If you can also help me answer that, why does my Blu-Ray player need Wi-Fi??

Wifi is probably to stream hi def video, bluetooth is indeed just a wireless headset, so it's used to link things together. Other than that, no clue.

P.S. I miss Bonkers. I loved that show, and am positively stoked to see you keeping it alive.

so you can wirelessly send stuff or play music off of wireless speakers, remote control things. its like an ad-hoc thing short distance wireless use. its awesome!
your blu-ray player prolly has wi-fi to connect to your network so it can play movies if you have them on your computer that are blu-ray or regular. or to stream youtube
