I bought an 1989 F150 with the 300 IL 6 and would like to know a little more about this engine. I was told that it was originally manufactured as a marine class engine on boats? The engine I have now has nealy 200,000, all original, no burning/leaking oil, just doesnt really have that fast off the line responce I ;like. Any mods to be made to help it in the regaurds? As far as on the highway, it runs pretty good. Have already towed a couple boats, and a car on a trailer, did quite weel power wise, but guzzled the gas.. Pretty crappy on gas anyways.. If anyone could just point me to the enginces history, specs, and any known mods I can do to get a little better and faster response off the line..
