Mar 31, 2010 #2 J JLee1 New member Joined Mar 31, 2010 Messages 1 Reaction score 0 Points 1 a dvd writer can write data onto a dvd disc AND read data from a dvd. however a dvd drive will only read dvds. if you dont plan on burning any dvd's you should be fine with the dvd drive. your wallet would appreciate it too
