What should I expect from a college course called "Introduction to Music Theory"?

What should I expect from a college course called "Introduction to Music Theory"?

This is my last elective I need to take in order to graduate. I'm not a huge music player, will I do good in this class? Should I study certain things before I take this class, like guitar or whatever? Over-all, what is the concept of this class?
 
Music theory is just a class that teaches you why music theory is important. Music theory is the building block of all music from notes to scales to compilations. It is fairly easy. Something like an English class. A few research papers and it'll be over before you know it.
