This show aired on toonami later at night around 2001 or 2002, I've been trying to find it for a long time, the main character sacrifice himself in the last episode and crashes into a a mountain or something, then at the end it shows him and some girl who is helping him walk because he lost his leg or broke it or something and he says "sorry if im heavy".
