What's the quickest program to use to burn a DVD from a .mpg file?

I have a 4+GB file in mpg format, which I want to make into a home DVD to review on our DVD player. I know that I can use the built-in Windows DVD Maker, but basically it "prepares" the file and re-encodes it for up to 2+ hours just to burn a single DVD. Is there anything else (preferably freeware) out there that is faster than this?
