whats wrong with my i880 motorola phone? I can barely hear anyone on the other line

unless on speaker phone? The volume is up all the way on everything but when someone calls I can barely hear them unless I put it on speakerphone. Does anyone have any ideas?

This just started happening today and there is no reason why, it hasn't been dropped or anything. Is there any way to fix it myself?
