When walking past someone on a Bike path/walking trail how long should

you maintain eye contact? I walk on a bike/foot path and when I pass someone going the other way I try to make eye contact. My question is how long should you maintain eye contact when passing? I know you don't what to stare at the person but you don't want to look away to fast either. So how many seconds should you look at the other person?
