Where are some places to go fishing without a boat in the Peoria, IL area?

We don't have our boat so we're kind of limited. I don't really know how most of the places look whether they'd be crappy fishing off of a dock and just catching blue gill or it'd be a fishing spot where you can cast out from the bank and catch some nice catfish or bass, you know?

I'd be able to travel within a 30 mile radius of Peoria, IL but other than that it's a pretty long ride.
Any places you know of?
Or any websites you know of that shows us information and pictures just so we could get an idea of the spots?

Though I've never been, the above map, perhaps with further zoom, may give you some ideas. I love to fish for, and even catch crappies, bluegill, and lake perch! It's nice to get a big bass or cat, but those panfish are fun to catch and sweet to eat!
