Which handheld game for 5 year old boy?

I wanted to get my 5 year old a Nintendo DS lite for Christmas. (His older sister has one and he's trying to play hers). Now I found out that the DS lite isn't on the market anymore. I still can find it on Amazon, but it costs nearly the same than the DSi and I don't think that it's worth it. I don't want to get him a DSi or 3DS or anything like that, because I think a 5 year old doesn't need a camera, browse the web or need the 3D features. I just wanted to get him a handheld game :-(. Any advise would I should get him instead?
 
When I was a kid, I loved Pokemon. I would get him a few of those, like Diamond and Pearl, or Balck and White.
 
For young children, i would recommend:

Any of the Pokemon Series
Any of the Mario Series (Kart, Party, New Super Mario Bros)
Rayman Raving Rabbids
The Legend of Zelda Series (Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks)
 
Maybe a good old Gameboy Advance SP those are great for kids I mean he's 5 he doesn't really need a DS or PSP. And the Gameboy Advance SPs are only around 25-50 on ebay/craigslist.
