why are religions more interested in teaching people more about life...

...after death rather than living this life? Dont you think its time religions forget about all this after life talk and concentrate on inspiring people how to live this life they have with love and kindness?
 
The two are intertwined.We Catholics and several others believe the only way to spend eternity with God is by spending this one living in love and kindness. But we do believe this life is a school for the next.
 
Well as Christ said I came that they might have life and have it abundantly(full and meaning full) Both are a reward!
 
because people are afraid of the unknown (the so-called after life) and so religions cash in on people's fears.
 
Heaven's Gate sure did, and look where that got them. We need to be saved, both temporally and eternally.
 
Teaching? You mean selling their guesses as the absolute truth?

Make no mistake, they are trying to tell people how to live their ""earthly"" lives, especially when it comes to private matters such as sex.
