That has always puzzled me. People become ill; people's children die; people have drug or alcohol abuse issues--why does this kind of thing make news when those ppl are famous. It's just as terrible when it happens to someone anonymous! Note that Yahoo today is making a big deal out of what ppl wear to an event! Does anyone report what I wear to the theatre, or to a game? Of course not!

Like, if they were to see one in the supermarket, they would be all over them. Why is that? I mean, I have seen some before in my life and I didn't give it any thought what so ever. I was at the mall one day and Tony Danza just happened to be there. I just wanted to get to my car and go home, so I could play with my new universal remote that I bought at Radio Shack. My friends were like, "don't you want to see Tony Danza?" I was like,"Tony... who?" lol

But my question is, why do some people have such an infatuation with celebrities, like if celebrities were the sun and the moon? lol
I'm asking this question in a "light," humorous tone, so don't get offended anyone :)

i Know!!!!!! there just people who sing or something like that! any of us can sing!

It's one of marks of our society's downfall, actually. This decadence, this superficiality, this belief that money and notoriety somehow equals accomplishment or even righteousness.

And it's no coincidence that the rise in celebrity status accompanied the advent of television, which has dumbed people down and bred physical and mental laziness. The irony: millions of people roaring for the Spartans in 300 while being fat and lazy enough to sit in place for more than two hours.

It's disgusting, the celebrity worship, and it makes me eager for the apocalypse that eventually hits every decadent civilization.

because celebs have everything and the life that most people wish to have

I never notice these things, I would only generally recognise them if they were in character and this rarely happens.. I think because their lives can be so publicized it makes people think they have glamorous lives and that everything is perfect, however I am sure the truth maybe quite different, I go with the fact that people I like on the TV or in movies are the character they play, how could I possibly say I like a person when I don't know them?!

I say it is all very overrated, these celebrity folk...

xx

People are obsessed with the limelight of the media. Anyone who has the light shining on them represents power and prestige. Well, some people think this. Not all. It's hard for me to explain because I'm just like you.

because that's how people are. they always need to be obsessed with something. if they aren't then they feel like there life is empty and they don't have anything to do in life.
