Why do my home theater amp's protection circuits stay open even after cooling?

My amp shut off then returned the other day. But now NADA! Even after cooling! What now? Can it be permanently shut off due to heat in it's enclosure? Can an electronics tech open it and restore the protection circuits? I would then add a fan to the sealed wall unit the amp resides in. Can my expensive marantz SR-19 be saved?
