Why do my torrents stay at 0.0kbps?

Whenever i'm downloading a torrent from 'The Pirate Bay' via 'uTorrent', there is a 2-3 minute wait until the download starts. It just stays at 0.0 percent, and kbps.
Why does this happen? Is there anything I can do about it?
