Why do people feel it's necessary to rant about social assistance?

I have seen several answers, specifically two posters who feel it is necessary to be heard whenever the term "social assistance" or WIC comes up - Forgive me if I am wrong, but isn't it unfair to assume someone using this services is abusing their priviledge, especially when it is a mother trying to provide nutrition for her infant? I am NOT impressed by the posters who jumped down a womans throat recently, and one who I thought had very valid answers in the past has lost my respect.
Does any one else feel that peoples questions should be answered rather than a judgment made on the individual who asks?
Before someone accuses me of being on social assistance, I am a SAHM, with a Psych major, a diploma in Natural Health Consulting, a diploma in Health and Fitness, a certified Pharmacy Technician, a certified Personal Trainer and I have worked since I was 15 years old. I will return to work when I am ready, and those who think I am not contributing to the economy? Can kiss my butt. My kids come first.
lol - LOVED the rant, Hellcat! I hope you'll be my contact!!!
well put, Hmmmm... ( not sure of how many mmm's... )

I just wonder if these people realize that those who receive benefits from the government pay taxes too. I receive WIC and food stamps and paid my taxes.

I think they don't realize that people can fall into bad times. I know my husband and I did. Before I got pregnant we were doing great, then boom everything went to hell in a hand basket. I usually just ignore them and move on. They are not worth my time.

I suppose I don't know which posters you're talking about, but I can see both sides. Yes, give your child the nutrition he/she needs, no matter what you have to do. At the same time, however, the money for assistance and WIC comes from somewhere - the tax payers. They don't like their money paying for women to have tons of babies they can't afford. Abortion isn't the answer, but you know there are women out there that know they can turn their heads to the government if the outcome of their actions is 'paid for in full.'
(after reading other people's responses) I'm not saying I agree with either side. I can just see both side's arguments. Thank God we can go somewhere for that help if something goes wrong. There will always be those that run into that got laid off or have special needs for their children, or even totally miscalculated the amount of money it costs to raise a child. At the same time, though, there are those that abuse the system. Of course, those are the stories we hear.

i agree with you....they should be answering the question at hand not attacking or judging the person who asked...
