Why do people film a murder or take pictures of car accident victims?

and even post these videos and pictures on youtube from their mobile phones? Is it best just to consider these poeple no long part of humanity?
 
It's called "morbid curiosity". I remember about 50 years ago My Nan and I were walking down 174th and Broadway in Upper Manhattan (Waaaaay up) and we came across a poor woman run over by a car. I stopped and gawked like everyone else. My Nan pulled me away and said something to the effect that since the police where there and also the ambulance people, she was getting all the help she needed and didn't need strangers looking at her in her, gawking, while she was lying in the street injured. I've always tried to keep that in mind since.
