Why do people get mad at me for making 9/11 jokes?

I'm serious. It's been like 10 years, and I think the right time to do so. I mean some people get offended by it, but what's offensive with it? It's not like they were in it. I know I'm in the right on this, and I just wanted to get other peoples' opinnions on it.
Note: I never tell 9/11 jokes to anyone who was affected by it with family loss. So that's solves that problem. I don't get why people get all uptight about it.

Didn't mean to double post on the additional details sorry about that.

I'm not American but I think you should realise that people died in that horrific tragedy. If your mom dies the other day and a stupid idiot like you comes online making jokes about it, how would you feel?

You should really think about peoples' feelings dude. A lot of people were affected by it and I am still inflicted with my memory of it when I was 7. I sometimes make cruel jokes about stuff too, I'm just telling you it hurts.

death doesn't get funnier with time.

just because i'm alive doesn't mean i didn't lose a good friend, brother, sister, mother, father, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew that day.

I've been several times at the place where it happened, Ground Zero in Manhattan, New York, and no matter how much time has passed and knowing that under that soil there are many lost loved ones, it's like living that terrible day over again.
When visiting the place, and just walking by, we can feel that special aura as if many people are there with us.
It's reality. It's one of those things that time could never erased from its eternal space...

Because thousands of people died
and even though it was 10 years ago, the first responders who helped others get out of the tragedy are dying these days from exposure. They're getting cancer and all these diseases.

I think it might have something to do with the fact that over 3000 people were murdered simultaneously and many burned to death so making jokes about it might be a little offensive to some people.
