Why do people have a 30 second limit of interest in a topic?

In conversations, i notice people seem to have this limit of about 15 to 30 seconds of interest. When it comes to my turn to talk about something, and this time frame comes near, right in the middle of me talking will just turn to someone else as if they just don't care anymore and have had enough. I can even see that same look on their faces. And these people are unrelated to each other.

I'm so frustrated by this. It's as if they are saying to me that i'm uninteresting, i don't matter, what i was talking about doesn't matter.

Do people really live in 30 second bites? How can a conversation even evolve into something more than "Hi. How's it going?" shallowness? Are people shallow or stupid? Or am i just the problem here? Am i not worthwhile? I don't think anyone cares about me.

I think people now think "let's be nice and give him a few seconds, but let's cut him off and do what we really want to afterwards".

What am i missing here?
