Why do people in relationships think it's okay to ignore their friends?

I think mainly girls do it ... They are so hung up on this guy and would do anything for him that she will ignore her friends ... I don't think it's intentional, it just happens because they love each other and they want to protect and spend every minute of the day with each other.
