...out with you to find out? Stuff like, what do you look like, what to do you do for fun, what are your interests, what kind of guys/girls do you like?

If they actually hung out with you then they would know, or be able to see, or observe, or find out.

I'm confused and wondering the worst part is when you have written it on your profile or something and then they still ask. wow
 
People don't only do that on the internet. Maybe they want to know so they can plan to do things they know you already like. Maybe they want to know so they can morph themselves into the kind of guy/girl you like. I agree that it's best to take time and get to know someone on your own. There can be some confusion and misinterpretation when people try to describe themselves. You might say one thing and it could mean something totally different to someone else.
