Why do people try to associate religion with the issue of abortion?

I don't see how either issues are relevent to each other. More than likely, there are atheists who are against abortion. So...please...tell me...what is the relationship between religion and abortion?
Keep religion out of the government.
 
I haven't figured that out yet.

After all, I am a pro-life / anti-abortion atheist. It gets tiring getting lumped in with the Jesus Crispies who have no objection to abortion than, "GOD SAID..." (when in reality, the OT makes it clear he doesn't consider it a human being until it's born.)
 
If our religion tells us that murder is wrong, how can we keep the 2 separate?

That's like saying keep your "morals" out of politics b/c murder helps the overpopulation problem we have going on. Would you abandon your morals for political reasons?
 
Exactly.. The same with Gay marriage! The US is not a Theocracy so people need to get their religion out of my face!!
